We've all got pet peeves about the s2ki website so to help us better understand what they are and come up with a plan to address them please post your #1 pet peeve about s2ki.com

This is a constructive exercise to help me plan out the year for work ahead so help me develop a short list.

Currently the order ranks as follows (#) indicates how many people picked it as their peeve:

- Search sucks (~)
- Private Messaging missing important features (2)
- Offline page is static (1)
- Buddy list showing online status (1)
- Images in quoted posts (1)
- Put favorite forums on forum index page (at top) (1)
- Link to email inbox including status (1)

 

This is really daft and small beans but someone posted it the other and reminded me of how annoying it is

The "Offline for maintenance" page is a static page. So if you hit refresh to see if the site's back up, you just refresh that page, rather than the forums. If you see what I mean. It still catches me out.

As for PM, I don't think it sucks, but displaying either the recipient list or whether you were CC'd would be handy - I've been confused (easily happens) before now by a CC as I thought the content of the message was directed at me. If the former, you might want to include BCC capability if people want to copy in others "secretly".

 

A list of 'friends' to see if they are online, that would be good to have again.

 

How about when quoting a post and all of the pictures are included too. What a WASTE of space.

Guests with avatars and signatures. They should have neither IMHO.

How about on the main forum page, users being able to rearrange the placement of the forums. I could put my favorites at the top or even not see the forums I have no interest in.

 

The gallery really needs some organizational/ image management functions.

A direct link to our email would be nice (in MyS2K) and also a "You've got mail" thing that pops up when we've got mail. This may inspire people (like myself) to begin to actually use the email here.

 

The search box and forum markers that are ABOVE the banner. I am not sure why this bugs me, but it does! I think they would look better directly below the banner...

 

Another vote here for the Assistant.

 

Make posting prices mandatory on ALL items in the for sale threads. This isn't Ebay and it saves a ton of PM's and reply's asking "how much"
