PLEASE give thread creators new tools for the sake of dial-up users!!!
Dear S2KI directors,
For the sake of all dial-up sufferers ...
The browsers of this forum need to learn the importance of the "Add to My S2000" link. Many users don't have any idea that they can subscribe to a thread without posting something absolutely useless like "I'm interested too", or "
". Meanwhile, those of us that just built new homes in areas that don't yet have broadband access, have to spend 5 minutes downloading the extremely uplifting NEW INFO (
).
To expand on this, I think that there should be a display for everyone to see how many users have subscribed to a thread. This will show that there is interest in the topic, despite the fact that few have responded. This will bring comfort to the authors, and will reduce the number of
responses. I also think that people should be able to BUMP a thread without posting a worthless piece of crap message like "TTT". The ONLY reason for bumping a message should be to move it to the top of the list, NOT notify all the subscribed parties that some looser has posted something meaningless.
May the force be with you (all).

One additional request. I wish there was a way to subscribe to a thread without having to receive email updates whenever someone posts to the thread. I looked at my control panel a while back, and I think I did not find any way to disable that.
I am hesitant to use the subscribe feature very often because of this, and it might make useless little posts a more attractive choice for some people. (Not me; I don't do that.

Sometimes I want to subscribe to a thread so I can find it again easily when I need to. Also it's nice to see in MyS2000 when someone's posted in the thread, but that doesn't mean I need an email message too.
Also, you can't turn off email updates in the the profile. You can turn them off for ALL threads you post in, but not for subscribed threads. At least that's the way I've noticed it behaving.

I agree. I don't use subscribe too often cause usually I'll reply to a thread if I'm that interested. Recently I found a thread that I was very interested in but hadn't had a reason to post in, so I subscribed. Ever since then I've been getting E-mail notifications whenever someone posts in that thread. I have this turned off in my profile for threads I post in but have not found a way to do that for subscribed threads.
