What is the advantage of this feature over email? I get emailed when I have a PM so wouldn't it save one step if people just used email? If I didn't get an email notification first I wouldn't know that I had a PM since I don't routinely check for them but I always know when I have email. I've wondered about this since I first discovered it.

 

For me, it's totally convenient. Just another communication option for site members. Of course, I can always use email to communicate with other members. It's nice when I can just PM someone on some thread we just read or discussed right on the spot. PM to me is just an internal email system for site members. Some members don't check PMs, so it's cool that they got notified to alert them.

 

I like PMs because it's easy for me to get to, but since ppl can't send me PMs email is better at the moment
