post count in profile vs thread

post count in profile vs thread
For somee reason when I look to the left of a thread it shows one post count something like 1700 but when I look in my profile it shows posts as 1875. One of them does say active and the other not. Does that mean I've had 100 and something postts that were in threads that are no longer active?
