Default Proposed Change to For Sale/Classifieds

UPDATE - This proposal has been aborted due to lack of consensus and lack of a scape-goat willing to take the blame.

On the suggestion of one of the members we are looking at a change to the For Sale/Classified forums. The proposed changes are as follows:

1 - Restrict posting public replies to For Sale Classified topics to just the topic starter. Those interested in purchasing the advertised items would respond by private message or as directed in the ad.

2 - All For Sale Classified and WTB topics would be purged from the site 30 days after they are started to keep the FS topics fresh. Expired ads would need to be reposted after expiration.

Please vote on this poll so that we can get solid feedback from the members before making these fairly significant changes to the for sale forum rules.

We will leave this poll open through the end of August to allow time for ample response.

Thanks

I've been noticing for a while now that the FS section in the main and subsection, has become a Honda-Tech Like. People trashing other people thread.

It is important that we vote "YES" to this poll. This will get rid of all the spammers, the useless comments, and help the members sell their products.

Who is to dictate how MUCH we can sell our cars for? Our Products? and So forth. Useless comments makes this forum head in the direction that we don't want it to be. I'd like to see S2ki.com be CLASSY as it was before (2000-2006).

I am tired of:

"Your Exhaust makes no power"
"Your product is overpriced"
"I have one, I can sell it for cheaper"
"You smoking crack? Your car is worth has XXX,XXX miles and you want that much for it"

The seller can sell at that ever price they want, they have the right not to be spammed by other members. Spamming hurts the SELLER, and the Seller is the one that PAYS MEMBERSHIP to S2ki.com. Seller should have rights to filter these useless comments out.

You guys get my point,

Thanks,

BC

Nikoncafe has been doing that for months works great

makes people respond to their PM's and keep the trashing out

allowing Bumps once a week, some posted here are bumped every day

Buyers / Sellers ratings = simple +/- with count, every year new list updates once a month

I voted for no, because the poll is lumping two changes into a single choice.

I'm all for #1 but I am against #2

He only wants half of it, Mike, which means his "no" vote is correct. I think purging old ads is just fine. If you haven't sold after 30 days, feel free to repost the ad. No loss there.

I think he meant he doesn't want old threads purged...

I would support this change as well.

I'm for restricting public replies, but not so sure about purging after thirty days, although craigslist does it, so

Whoa, guests can vote?
