Still, no one knows the circumstances behind why I think its very dumb to judge a mod's judgement by thier PPD

Marcus apparently wishes to simply move on. I have e-mailed with him (he's one of our local guys) and he has expressed no real interest in being a lightning rod for discontent. He left the board by choice because of whatever the interaction was over this and there really isn't much to discuss unless or until the board management wishes to make a statement.

Why do you all jump to ridiculous conclusions? What are you basing all of this on?

Being a mod isn't a status symbol, it's a lot of work. We shuffle the moderation team from time to time in order to get the moderation work done most effectively. As a mod you need to read and moderate your assigned forum(s) and if you aren't or aren't doing it effectively then we need to get someone in who will.

It's not a personal thing, the work just needs to get done with as few people as possible. The moderators weren't changed because they aren't nice, they are and I suspect will continue to be.

Moderation is job unfortunately. It's not a social status symbol. If you think it is then you probably wouldn't make a very good moderator.

COs and moderators have similar jobs but they aren't the same. COs run a community within S2KI. Think of it this way. There is one "global community" encompassing what you see in the forums list. Those forums we manage and we do that with a team of moderators and site moderators. The club index page shows a list of local/regional/social clubs and communities. These communities are managed by COs, not by us.

COs control all of the content within their local forums including things like advertising and any special requirements they may have. They set their own commercial posting policies, their own management structure, their own culture. The only requirements we have of these "special communities" is that they follow and enforce the s2ki posting policy, the one you agree to when you register. COs may impose their own restrictions or rules above and beyond that. Each local community is different and they are all developed differently with their own politics, methods and rules.

You can be both a moderator and a CO, they aren't one in the same thing. In short, if you are a moderator then you report to us. If you are a CO you report to your membership.

The next release of the site which I'm working on now will have some reorganization to make the distinction clearer and offer a lot more functionality to the special communities than they have now.

Because she didn't meet our requirement to be a moderator: that you moderate. A great and likable person, helpful and pleasant. A terrific member but not a great moderator. Great moderators moderate and unfortunately that tends to piss people off.
