S2Ki Censorship
Sondra recently posted some info re: S2K Days coming to Austin in the Central TX forum, and several of us locals were using it to discuss planning, help, etc. Today I found out that the thread was deleted by the powers-that-be for some stupid reason: (a) b/c S2KCA won
I don't see anything wrong here. There is no censorship
To require a club membership just to attend an event is reasonable. Promoting an event on this site is okay, too. However, it's not okay to require the members of our site to join said club just so that they can attend the event.
If it were just fees for the event, I'd consider going. However, I do NOT want to be a member of a club I don't support just to be allowed to attend that event.

Simply put. . .
S2KCA can not generate enough interest for S2KDays from their own website. They want to advertise here on s2ki.com for free and have the edacity to require a $35 membership to attend the event. Keep in mind that the $35 only covers their membership fee. This is not some sort of registration or event fee.
Why should the S2KCA be allowed to profit (and don't give me that whole "non-profit" thing, I was on the S2KCA board of directors and never got to see how and where the money was being spent). They should not and this is what s2ki.com is upholding. If you want to advertise your event for free, then you have to accept s2ki.com members as S2KCA members for the event.
Pretty simple, IMO.

As Airgate said, S2KCA has their own website. If you want to call what S2KI has chosen to do censorship you should see what practices S2KCA employs on their website!! In any case, this thread is not S2K related so I'm moving it to the Site Info forum where it should have been posted to begin with.
This thread was in a local forum and was simply a planning thread, not an advertisement.
Several times I had discussed opening our own forums elsewhere and was assured by Krazik that there was no need to. Still the case?

My point, Raul, is that Rylan urged us STRONGLY a few months ago not to create our own, independant forums, to keep them here. I'm starting to see that it's time for Texas to get their own forums. What a pity for S2Ki's sponsors.
The Central Texas forum WAS where all of the Austin area people congregated. We are now, in the last 20 minutes, putting the machinery in place to create our own forums for all of Texas so that S2Ki isn't a factor any longer and we can concentrate on what is important: S2000 ownership and enthusiasm, regardless of whose event it is.
