Default Search back

the search is back (has been for a few hours)

can you do some key word searches and see if you get the results you expect.

Seems to be working for me

Well, the mySql errors are gone. But the search still does not seem to return the correct results. Try this experiment:

Click "Search", then "More Options". Enter the Keywords "wear + hole + top" and select the "-- S2000 Talk" under "Where, leave the rest as default, and click "Perform Search".

You will get thousands of threads back, most of which do not contain any of the keywords specified (for example, the thread s2000 typeV was returned, and I cannot find the words "wear" or "hole" in the thread).

It is at least better than before, but not quite there yet.

your search is wrong.

wear +hole +top

no spaces after the + I got lots of results

wear + hole + top will give you threads with any of the 3 words in them.

also be sure to quote phases. "wear hole" +top

Hmmm... OK, thanks for the search tips. The fact that a space is not allowed after the "+" was not obvious in the Advanced Usage Help information.

But be that as it may, I used the new search string (actually cut/pasted your string into the Keywords) and it came up with 6 threads, definitely an improvement over the hundreds of threads I got previously. But it still returned threads like: "Check Oil When?" which does not contain either "wear" or "hole".

no it doesn't. every other forum package except vb works this way. while I may get around to changing it it's not a critical bug.

if you want multiple words you should use + or put them in "

People still seem to have big issues with the search function. The issue seems to be they aren't getting similar results as they have done previous to v4 using the same type of searches. The default then was AND, and now is OR. IMHO people would be much happier if the default was AND

I know it is not a critical bug, but it is pissing a lot of users off
