Default Search Issues

Is it just me or when you do a search, then click on one of the Threads that looks like it might help you - then back out of that thread it gives you an error message rather than bringing you back to the page with all the hits on it. So then you have to go back, type in the search query and do it all over again for every different thread you want to check. It happens for me on my home and work computers ...

What does the error message say?

This:

"Warning: Page has Expired The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form. This page is no longer available. As a security precaution, Internet Explorer does not automatically resubmit your information for you.

To resubmit your information and view this Web page, click the Refresh button."

...then i have to hit the back button again and that brings me back to the original page where I have to type in my search request again.

hmm.

It's not really an error It's saying the page is the result of a form you filled in and is now expired. In FireFox you are told the same thing but clicking OK resubmits the form to regenerate the page (as I expect it to). What sort of security settings do you have in IE?

I'm here at work now and just tried it again, but instead of backing all the way out I hit the Refresh button and it brought me back to the threads, so I'll just do that in the future I guess. I'm not too savvy on internet security settings and all that so it's nothing I really want to mess with, I usually just go with what's recommended. Honestly it's not the biggest deal in the world, just a little annoying when searching around, I'll deal with it. Thanks for looking into it though.

On IE and Safari retry/send is the default option so you can just hit Enter. On Firefox it's not the default so you need to click a button with the mouse.

When you submit a form and it takes you to a page the browser it letting you know you are going to submit the form again when you hit the back button. In the case of search that is perfectly ok.

The reason there is a thank you page when you post a new message before going on to the message is to clear that condition. I didn't do that for search.
