Search results based on "relevance"
I didn't see this addressed in the v4 FAQ, and didn't bother searching for previous posts, but I have a question regarding the search function.
Is it possible to have search results sorted based on "relevance" or somehow scored? Currently, it seems like the results just return every post with any word that is in my search string (but maybe I'm just not searching right).
For example, if I search for amuse r1000 exhaust, then I would expect the first few results to have a title of "amuse r1000 exhaust" (assuming a thread like that exists). Then, the next results would have a post in them with the phrase "amuse r1000 exhaust" in it. Then, the next results might have threads that includes a post with all of those words in the post, but not necessarily adjacent to each other. Later results would have all three words in the thread, but not necessarily in the same post. And finally, near the end of the results, would be threads that have at least one of the words anywhere in the thread.
Currently, it seems like the first result in a search is just as likely to be a thread where the word r1000 appears in it just one time (referring to motorcycles) as it is to be one titled "amuse r1000 exhaust".
Anyway... consider this a "feature request". I think v3 did this, but it seems like v4 doesn't do it (or doesn't do it as well).

You have to know the secret "handshake" on how to use search:

Results are returned by relevance. However, your idea of relevance and that of the software may differ somewhat. According to the software the posts are in most relevant (highest score) to least relevant (lowest score) order.
Thanks for the replies.
cthree: Can you expand on how the software scores a post? Is it similar to how I described above (higher score for posts with the keywords in the title, lower score for posts that only have the keywords occur once somewhere near the end of the thread)?
