Default Why so many duplicate threads lately?

Before I post a new thread, I usually do a search to see if someone else has already posted the same topic and there is no need for me to post the new thread. But lately, I see many duplicate threads posted in a short period of time (e.g., BMW Z4 pictures, BMW/S2000 crash, NCAP crash results, etc.). So it either means the posters do not regularly read this board (or else they would have noticed the same topic being discussed before they go and post) or else something is broken.

I am wondering if the failure of the "search" capability is causing this duplicatation of topics. In fact, before I posted the NCAP crash thread, I tried a search for the topic and it came back with no match, so I posted it -- only to find at least two other threads with the same topic.

So, how do we educate members of this board to use the search capability (assuming it works) before they post?

I think the search function is down, and has been for awhile, so thus since great minds think alike, we start posting similar topics. I cant wait for the search function to become active again soon...
