Default Sick Search Engine?

Anybody else been having problems?

I have searched for things that I know are in here and they have not come up in the results. I have gone to advanced search and altered my request only to have the same problem.

Check out this thread:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=36912

Example:
I know there are pics of the SSM on a thread that had a title that mentioned a rollbar. Someone was asking last night about the history of the S600/S800 for a paper he was doing and I was not able to find the pics of the SSM that I was looking for.

The search index got corrupted yesterday. I tried to rebuild it but I guess it didn't work. I'll try again once the traffic load lightens up. The search engine could really use some work

I think this problem is deeper than a recently corrupted search engine. My searches have not worked for quite some time.

I've been having the same trouble for a while... also, I haven't been getting e-mail notifications on threads that I'm "subscribed to"... and in the MyS2000 menu, the threads listed there are constantly deleting and than being replaced by other random threads...

OK- so it sounds like it is not me who is lame.

I keep contemplating posts because I can't find the info I'm looking for. Then I stop before I make the post because I'm afraid of my reaction to the poor soul who responds with an indignant tone of type with the suggestion that I do a search!

cthree- I appreciate deeply your time constraints!!! Is there any merit to the idea that it is more than a corrupted search index? Let's not loose sight of the importance of the search engine...

Thanks!

Sparky, you have a point. The search engine is not up to where I would like it. I would love nothing better than to redo it properly but it's a big project and I have zero knowledge for searching algorithims or theory -- I write device drivers and OS code for God's sake

So we are stuck with it for now until I find a suitable replacement.

Sounds like we need a volunteer. I know squat about such things so I am no help at all. cthree, thanks for your honesty, now I know it is not something I am doing wrong. Is there anything we can try that would increase our chances of getting a better search result? Good luck with this challenge and remember, this is a great site and we all appreciate your efforts!!!

cthree,

I've noticed it too... What kind of programming expertise would it take? Maybe I can help.

I know a little something about searching... depending on how you are running the site, I might be able to help. PM if you're interested.
