Default What Server is this?

I'm happy to report that all 4 of our web servers are now online. You won't know which server is serving your particular request but if you click the n Online Users link above and scroll to the bottom it will tell you in light gray text. The web farm is configured as follows:

monkey - This is our original web server that has been online for 1.5 years and the one that has been crashing a lot lately. It's a dual Pentium 3 866Mhz unit with 2GB of RAM

gator and croc - These are our new 1.7Ghz Pentium 4 servers with 1.5GB of RAM. Thanks to SilverSurfer for suppling these units. If you need hardware, talk to him!

lion - This is a new (used) dual Pentium 3 866Mhz with 1.5GB RAM unit. It handles everything that isn't s2ki.com and a small portion of the s2ki traffic (10% or so).

We have another system named tiger which is our database and network file server. I runs the database and stores all of your photo as well and server logs. It's a dual Pentium 3 450Mhz system with 1GB of RAM. Tiger is strictly backend.

I addition we have the load balancer/firewall which balances the network load among the 4 web servers and detects of they are alive or not. It's also the firewall which keeps unwanted traffic out.

There are 2 major upgrades yet to perform:

- Replace the hard disks in tiger's RAID array with larger ones (in about 1-2 months)
- A new database server system, tiger will become a file server only. (3-4 months)

Your memberships make these upgrades possible and keep s2ki the best community of auto enthusiasts around. Please consider becoming a member and help us in this effort. Your support does make a difference so please become a member today. Sorry for the plug but someone has to do it

Thanks for all of your support. We've turned a crisis into pure joy in less than a week and you have helped make this possible. The net benefit you'll see from these and other changes include:

- MUCH FASTER access to the site. It will be very snappy as compared to what it was. No more waiting ages for pages to load.
- MORE RELIABLE now that we have 4 servers instead of just 1 handling web traffic. We can bring servers up and down now without shutting down the site. We are very close to 5 9's uptime now (not quite but close).

Cheers and enjoy the ride

Including the Firewall, Combined s2ki is over 8.5 GHz CPU and 8.5 Gigs of RAM.
