Why was the VIN decoding information removed?

Why was the VIN decoding information removed?
A long time ago, there used to be a write-up on how to decode the VIN in the Library/FAQ section of this board. Then it was removed and never came back. Was it removed due to some security concern or what? I don't understand how knowing how to read a VIN can be a concern. The thing is that people are still asking how to decode a VIN, and there is no place to point these users to the information.
Doing a search for "VIN" returns thousands of threads (most of them dealing with registration problems using their VIN on this board). It is impossible to sort through them all to see which one explains how to decode a VIN.
Can we please put the "How to decode the VIN" page back in the Library/FAQ section? Please?
