Default Carbotech XP8s or Hawk HP+?

Front OEM pads are now gone and looking to upgrade. Running stock pads in the rear, but looking for stopping power. Squeak and dust are not a primary concern. Was looking at the Carbotech XP8s, but HP+'s are an option too. Any input is greatly appreciated If neither are a good match for OEM rears, I'd just as soon go back OEM.

carbotech xp8 is not a good match with oem rear. too much off balance. also, those are track pads and without enough heat in the pads, they don't stop all that well compared to on the track.

i would just buy oem pads again.

I wouldn't recommend XP8's to anyone for almost exclusive street driving. They dust way too much and eat rotors, not to mention they're not cheap pads. I don't have experience with HP+ but I can't imagine them dusting more than Carbotech's.

I have Carbotech XP10 front XP8 rear for the track and swap back to OEM for the street and most autocrosses. OEM pads work really well, and I can rarely ever use the full stopping power of the Carbotech's on the street unless my star specs are fully up to temp, otherwise ABS just gets a work out. In the end, it's not worth running the track pads on the street because of dust, some noise, price, and you rarely would even benefit from their greater potential stopping power.

had HP+ on Miata NC.
squeak all the time.
dust a looooooooooooooooooooot
bite and stopp is very good - untill everheated.
no bite and no stop (at all!!!!) when overheated. really scary stuff.
and it didn;t take too long to get them overheated.

for the price they cost (120$ - which is twice as much as OEM) - i don;t think they worth it.

for last year i use EBC Yellow and like them a lot.

brings up an interesting point though. What do most people do to compensate in the rear when they get a bbk?

I have Ferodo DS2500 a little hard to rotors and dusty. But I'm very happy with their performance. Light years better than stock, good on autocross and good on track days
