Fully track-ready AP1 for sale
I have a fully track day ready S2000 for sale. I am the original owner of this MY 2000 Berlina Black with just over 100k miles.
edit: Pictures of the car
First things first - if you're looking for a car to daily drive and maybe do some canyon carving in, this car is overkill and you can find cars to do that for a lot less money.
This car has been used extensively as a track car (yes, the front end has peppered paint). However, for a car that has seen as many track miles as this car has (I don't have a log, but I'd ballpark around... 3,500ish track miles, maybe a little more) it is in OUTSTANDING condition and I have meticulously maintained it myself.
Paint/body: This car has kinda never been in an accident, but I'll clarify what I mean... There have been several incidents where people have done shit to the car while it was stopped and as a result, the majority of the car has been repainted at one time or another and the front left fender and front bumper are not the original pieces. None of these incidents ever damaged anything beyond the outside body paneling.
Rebuilt items: Again, this car has been used on the track extensively, but has also been very carefully maintained (Mobil 1, changed every 3k miles, etc.). The engine is original, has never been overrevved or rebuilt and runs strong. I did a compression test on it recently and the numbers were all even (can't remember what they were, but if you're interested in the car, we can do a compression test again to verify). The rear end was replaced under warranty early on. Shortly thereafter, I rebuilt the rear end with a Kaaz 1.5-way differential. At about 70k miles, I blew out the ring/pinion and built a new rear end using a brand new AP2 housing and the existing Kaaz diff (which was still in excellent shape). The transmission was replaced under warranty very soon after I first bought the car. When I blew out the diff around 70k miles, the shock from that damaged the 3rd and 4th gear syncros, so I rebuilt the transmission and replaced all 6 six forward gears/syncros AND the reverse gear/syncro. Everything seems to be in proper running order currently.
Ok, on to the fun stuff - modifications:
Suspension:
- JRZ 3-way adjustable race dampers with remote reservoirs. Quick disconnect fittings on all 4 reservoirs. 750lb front springs, 700 lb rear. A complete set like this retails for over $6,000, as of the last price sheet I saw from JRZ.
- SPC front camber kit (currently running -2.7 front, -2.2 rear camber, if I remember correctly).
Safety:
- Elda Solo-1 legal rollbar
- Sparco Evo seat
- Sabelt 6-pt harness
Engine/transmission/differential:
- AEM V1 intake
- Iridium plugs
- Toda 8lb cromoly flywheel
- ACT HD pressure plate
- Kaaz 1.5-way limited slip differential
- Odyssey PC680-MJ lightweight battery
Brakes:
- Front bumper "faux brake ducts" have been converted to fully-functional brake ducts
- Street pads are Porterfield R4S compound (see spares section for info on race pads)
Body:
- All badges have been removed and the holes behind the "H" badges have been properly filled/smoothed/painted.
- All interior trim behind the seats has been removed, but I do have the full set (and it's already trimmed to fit with the Elda rollbar) if you want to re-install the interior.
- Clear corner lenses up front
- Street wheels are stock AP1 wheels that have been powdercoated semi-gloss black (see spares section for info on race wheels)
Electronics:
- Kenwood Z919 cd/mp3 head unit
- MB Quart 6.5" coaxial 2-way speakers with crossovers
Spares:
- 2 sets of AP1 wheels (NOT COUNTING the 3rd set that I use as street wheels). Of the two spare sets, all 4 rear wheels have been modified to fit at either the front or rear of the car and powdercoated semi-gloss black. This set of 4 rears is what I use as the race set and they have nearly new 245-50-16 Nitto NT-01 r-compound tires on them. Of the remaining 4 front wheels, two are stock finish with no tires and two are semi-gloss black with a worn out pair of Toyo RA-1s.
- Cobalt race pads (only good for another day or two tops)
- Interior for behind the seats
- Helmes shop manual
- Stock driver's seat (with a never-used factory replacement leather upholstery piece for the backrest half of the seat)
So that's the deal - it's a turn-key track car.
PRICE: $19,750
Serious inquiries only please.
