I've had several friends pass wth HFCs so you could probably save some dough there. Most techs just plug in the ecu now if it's just a regular smog check and not a star smog.

This is the legal requirement, they shouldn't be doing anything more than that.

I believe the visual inspection is still required, but there are probably lazy smog techs out there.
