27-hrs straight! Beat that!
Arrived a few days ago but just got internet connectivity this morning. Thought my first local post sould celebrate my lunacy by letting everyone know I drove the entire trip (27-hrs) straight through, only stopping for gas and a few grease wheels (cheeseburgers). Averaged 32.2 mpg for the journey and decided to skip I95 until I got to Georgia. I went down 81 South just to avoid the traffic in the metro areas but had the chance to pound through the Blue Ridge Mountains during the day with the top down and it was amazing...the view. In fact, even at night I had the top down (probably 26 of the 27 hours were made uncovered) but by the time I got to Homestead, my face was redder than a pecker on a puppy. BWAHAHAHA
Anyways, I've already met Chris (will hook up with you soon C!) and took a quick look at his ride. Gorgeous. A 180-degree departure from my look...very classy. You don't appreciate how sharp those HRE wheels are until seen in person. I saw more S2000's parked at Braman than two years in Vermont!
As for the drive, I know it was crazy to do that much time behind the wheel but I've still got that military mode in me and going long periods without sleep isn't that unusual. I ate coffee tablets (two are equivilent to a cup of coffee) like they were Starburst fruit chews and it took two days for me to finally come down from the 27-hour caffeine high.
As for the rain.....yikes! Had to put the top up in JAX as I met full speed ahead into a torrential 4 pm downpour. I worried about water going into my Weapon R intake (see thread with pics in under the hood) but not a problem. Even yesterday when it was pouring, I was tooling around running errands with the intake ducting wide open. No water ingestion problems at all (though my filter IS atop the bay though unlike the AEM's/INJEN, etc) so that probably makes it all a moot point.
The day I left Vermont, it was 45-degrees at 7 pm. I get down here and it feels like the car has lost 10hp! I expected that anyways...
Hope to finish getting settled in and hooking up soon with everyone. As Chris would tell you, my car is definitely "different."
He had a chance to hear the Supertrapps but only from a neutral rev. They sound meaner when the car is actually moving. The people at Braman must of wondered, "who the hell sold him that S2000?"

Russ, it was a pleasure to have met you, you are a really nice guy. Russ, and your car looks very aggressive too, can't wait to see the CF hood. Let me know when you want me to schedule the interview with the General Sales Manager! I'm looking forward in seeing you sell 20 plus cars and make lots of money. Thumbs up for the long drive down to Miami.

Tuesday eh? I'll be there...just need to get directions from Homestead. Should be easy enough. I'm putting 75 miles/day on the car learning the routes, etc and doing all the usual stuff before finally hitting Chris up! heh heh...ready to move some sheetmetal baby!
Picked up some gear at Brands Mart. That place was a trip. Nothing like that in Vermont. No wonder Best Buy was a ghost town when I stopped in. I don't think I'ver ever picked up an LCD TV while techno/house music was pounding in my head so that was different. I felt like I was shopping for a TV while in a drag bar. At any moment, I expected to hear Cher.
More errands to run...Chris, I'll be hitting you up VERY soon. I've got to finish up on the multitude of "to do's" before coming in. I want to make sure all that stuff is done as I know you'll agree. Got the windows tinted 35% on the sides so now I can finally breathe while in the car with the hood up. I was sort of disappointed to find
that the racetrack here didn't have a 1/4-mile strip. Who dropped the ball on that one? Seems like a no-brainer addition to me...tons of money in that. Not that I'd be a regular with the S2000 but it's fun to watch others pound the snot out of their cars.
OK, I'm gone again...will check back for directions. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the Breeze...
