Hello, I'm inquiring on experienced buyers from this forum. I'm considering a SC, and I feel uneasy about wiring or writing a check over the net...Does ANYBODY have any advice on buying from the FS forum? Considerations? Any safeguards for ME and the seller? Please, I need help on this...Thanks.

That's understandable

If you are clear the item is what you want and in the condition you want, you can have the seller ship the item ups COD. then no money changes hands until the item is delivered

For high ticket items, seriously consider an escrow service. This doesn't have to be a professional service, mind you... there are several board members who will gladly act as an agent, but both parties have to know/trust that agent.

 

Contact the seller's CO (community organizer) and ask what, if anything, they know about this person. Chances are, if the person's active in their s2k community, the CO will know him/her and be able to offer you some sort of idea as to whether or not they'd be "reputable". If the CO says the person's new or doesn't come to a lot of events, you might want to stay away from that.

Also, like Mac said, see if the CO or another board member would be willing to act as a middle-man.
