With all the rain we're having lately, it has come to my attention that that pesky rear
rotor on the left needs to be replaced. I'm still getting that pulsating sensation from
braking and the rotor has begun to get that surface rust (that I repeat) NONE of the
other three are currently making (and I just had it turned). I believe the culprit is the
actual pad. Remember, they were accidently (of course) put on backwards so I had metal on metal scraping for about two hours of driving time. I have to believe the actual pad (while it was being used on the incorrect side) has someone been damaged.
So, I have a replacement rear rotor in the mail and will finish up the rotor replacements (as I should have done in the first place) by replacing the pads as well.
Questions. Recommendations for a low dust street pad? How much should it cost to buy a set, where to get 'em and who to trust to do the work?
I don't want to put the new rotor on until I replace all the pads and then, as I
believe, I'll have to find a road down here in Homestead and "break" 'em in yes?
Seat them, as they say? A few 60-0 stops, followed by rests, etc?

Russ...

Its my understanding that.. during break in... its gentle driving/stops for like 200-300 miles...

60-0 would prolly mess you up good and proper...

I could be wrong though... ( its happened before.. )

Here's what I've found so far.

Thanks for chiming in Warren. I've always been under the belief that you just
installed 'em and drove around cautiously as well (until they seated) but after doing some reading,
I guess I've been doing it wrong all these years!

I just checked my owners manual..

Pg 120.
" Avoid hard braking. New brakes need to be broken-in by moderate use for the first 200 miles (300 km). "

Perhaps this is only Honda brakes?

wait.. are we having a terminology issue?

Break in.. is to first use them... first get them..

Bedding sounds like.. prepping them for hard use... Brake warm up... prior to aggressive driving...

Bedding should be done with all new pads, and should involve a couple hard stops to heat them up and get the entire pad face pressed against the rotor (i.e., get the pistoms fully compressed).

From there, maybe Honda pads should be broken in, but I've never done that.

Keep using the stock pads, they are a good compromise between dust and stopping power.

I use Panther Plus on the track but ask anyone who has seen my track wheels... they dust like a mother f_cker...
