So the Rex finally got finished with the cage...next step suspension!

Yup..it's gonna be run in ssca IT-S..but im making it a 2 seat car to also be able to run with passengers at track days and NASA stuff.

I think you need some more tubes in there .

Seriously, very nice looking cage. How long until you can do some testing?

Also, several of my friends have a removable "Petty Bar" installed so that they can use it when racing and remove it to install a passenger seat. A "Petty Bar" is a diagonal brace that runs from the top of the main roll hoop near the right side of the driver's head diagonally down to the forward cage section near where it attaches to the floor in the passenger footwell. It is supposed to add some torsional rigidity to the car structure.

Yeah, I was thinking of dropping a removable petty bar in, and even tying it into the top of the front hoop too (making it a "y" design), but the bolt-in nature of the bar removes so much structural rigidity that Im not sure it would be worth the weight. Im also toying with the idea of welding another diagonal to the rear frame rails, making it an "x", but I want to get some numbers from the cage as it is first before I go adding more. If I dont stop myself I'll soon be driving a 5000lb rx!
