Default Car accident, rear bumper

An F150 side-swiped me today. It tore off my rear bumper, damaged the left quarter panel and trunk. Rick Case's body shop gave me a high estimate and they are backed up until April.

My insurance company is sending me to Lexus of Pines to determine how much they're willing to give me for the damages. I don't want to know how much my insurance will go up.

Can you recommend a body shop? I heard of one called Sunshine (something) I didn't receive the entire name.

Thanks,
Vic

Damn Victor, I'm so sorry to hear that.

1. Your insurance won't go up. It's not your fault.

2. Sunshine Collision - 561-368-4252

Your insurance will not go up - you got hit in rear and the policy of the person that hit you will pay it out - even if you go through your insurance company.

Who is the insurance company on both sides - if their policy is good why not go after it to pay?

Sunshine I heard is good but a bit primadona and will not work with you.

I have Allstate and the F-150 has First Floridian. Neither one of us were cited for the accident. The officer stated, "Florida is a No-Fault State. I have two conflicting stories. I'll let your insurance companies fight over it."

Should I still call his insurance company?

Yes!

By the way, last I heard, Sunshine Collision in Boca was backed up, but not as long as Rick Case told you.

Definitely call his insurance carrier. I had a similiar situation, and luckily we both had the same insurance carrier, but they decided it was the other guy's fault (which it was, he backed up into me), even though he told a different story.

I can tell you from my hard learned lesson(s) that when you're involved in an accident that is not your fault, "do not(repeating 3 times)" file it with your own company. It will come back and get you in the behind down the road. File the claim with the other insurance company.

With one of my car, I was involved in 3 not at fault accident, and 1 hit and run in a parking lot. I filed it with my own insurance company. Even though that doesn't change my insurance rate, I found out that changing to a new insurance provider is basically impossible. The new insurance doesn't care if you're at fault or not. They care about how many claims you make, regardless of the accident. Typically, 3 claims in 5 years is just too much for them to handle, even though we pay $$thousands$$ per year.
