Thumbs down DMV & the end of the month

Let me begin this story by saying I am such a putz for not putting two & two together!

Last week, I received my registration renewal notice in the mail and decided that I'd finally get my personalized plates. I called today to make sure what I wanted was still available and it was! I download the form, fill it out, and decide at 4pm to head over to the DMV office in Hollywood, thinking "I probably can get this done today".

My first clue should've been the line at least 25 people long just to go through the metal detector to get into the building. Nope, it didn't register. So I wait & finally get through security. I walk down the hall & see a line that - I kid you not - comes out from the DMV office, goes down the hall and then curves back down the hall going past the office door. It had to be at least 50 people long! Finally, it hit me - it's the end of the month! Doh!

I turned around & walked out. There is no way that line would get taken care of by the 5:30 closing time.

Anyone know how much extra these tag places charge?

Moral of the story - don't go to the DMV offices at the end of the month!!!

Kim, use one of the tag places. I think they only charge 10.00 bucks or so. That is what I did.

btw-What did you choose.

What is this "IF" sh*t. You will be there and bring a hat (inside joke)!

My best luck with tag places is find one in a low populated area, like where some new homes just went up or a business area, and get there 1st thing in the morning. I guess Palm Beach county is different than Broward. I never wait longer than 10-15 mins. when I go.

BTW: Your plate should be "HATGIRL"

Ok - the saga continues...

I went to a tag agency by my house on Monday. No one there seemed to know what they were talking about & I was quoted about $99 to renew my current tag and get my new personalized one. Since everything seemed so dysfunctional, I told them I'd just handle it myself.

Went over to the Hollywood DMV office around 10:30am today and was in & out, with my new tag ordered, in less than 30 minutes! Plus, the price to renew my current tag & get my new one was less than $55!

Don't want to post on here what it is, but since it's reserved, I'll gladly tell you via PM or in person at Sofa King on Tuesday night.

Wooo hooo! Gonna have my new S-friendly tag in 6 to 8 weeks.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!
