Arcadence, if you don't have magnetic numbers, you can always use the blue painter's masking tape. At the last auto-x (Hialeah), they wanted them 10" tall.

I just bought a Snell 2000 full face Shoei helmet for about $225 at Rick Case Powerhouse. It was originally a $450 helmet, fits great and looks good. Any color you want ... as long as it's white. The store is located in some warehouses across the street from Rick Case Honda, near Griffin and Weston roads.

Another option could be Ebay.

Speaking of helmets and Ebay, does anyone remember the one where it had the whole story attached to it about the guy & the girl, etc.? Man, that was classic!

Uh huh...

If stock you are AS (regardless of year)

If you have minimal mods like intake, header, etc. you are BSP (regardless of year)

If you have supercharger/turbocharger/gears/etc. you are in SM2.

I don't know what kind of things you need to do to the S to move to Prepared or Mod class (AP, FM, etc.) so don't even ask.

Two other things...

In stock you can change: shocks (not springs, but shocks), air filter (just filter, not the piping or intake design), cat back exhaust, swaybar, and brakepads.

Anything else, you are in prepared.

Also, I have a helmet for sale. Its SA00, black with a Troy Lee sticker kit on it. I will let it go cheap. Its size XL, so it wouldn't work for you if you have a hat size less than 7.

Keith's list is correct, except that you can only change the FRONT swaybar. You must run the OEM rear swaybar.

It does not matter if the helmet is open or closed face. Open face helments are more comfortable when it's hot out. Closed face helemets offer a little more protection (in general), but the SCCA has recently announced a warning about using closed face helmets in cars equipped with airbags.

When I first started autocrossing in 2000, the S2000 was in AS, then there was a class realignment and nearly all of the AS cars were moved to BS. When the 2.2 liter cars were delivered in 2004, they were placed in AS with the 2000-2003 cars still in BS. Now all S2000s are in AS. It's just the way classing structure evolves in the SCCA.
