!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! This has to stop. its already been three in the same month! And now this time WITH SEAT LOCKS!!!! I really feel for you Blue, I wish that you didn't have to deal with such ASSHOLES! that feel that they have to steal something to obtain it, rather than work for it. I hope the cops find this scum and make an example out of them. I know that as soon as I get home I will be marking my seats and headlights, as I hope everyone on these forums will also......

P.S. Did this happen this morning??????

early morning like 4am around.... they had some balls too whoever stole them, i have a portico you drive under which comes right up to my front door. my car was 3 feet from my front door and they still stole them.... took the seats all the bolts and the seat locks. the only upside for me is this was not my only car so i am not stuck with a vehicle. but it still sucks. the cops told me this is the third S2000 in my area that had the seats stolen within the last TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!

Damn. What the hell is going on. This is absurd. Three in one month now. Did you have an alarm on the car, and if so, what kind? Now I'm getting worried that if/when I get my car fixed, they'll jack me again. It's the second time in 4 months for me that they slashed my top. The first time they didn't get much, but two weeks ago they got me good. Get them to print your car. Maybe the prints will come up the same... BTW, What area are you in? I'm in the Kendall area.

I would think that the seat locks are like wheel locks, in that they are keyed individually. It really sucks to have your car messed with like that.

Guessing someone might have obtained a key to the seatlocks??? You never know.....
Trendy, from what I remember reading on the seat lock thread, each key will only work on that particular set of locks. I think Kodokan_4 (Pete) only orders 50 to 100 locks per set, so my key will only match up with those who also received locks from the same order. If locks were ordered from a different set, those keys would not work on mine. Additionally, he's very diligent about those locks only going to registered owners who are on this site.

Is anyone having this problem w/ just the stock seats, or are they jacking aftermarket ones too?

The fact that they stole the seats despite having seat locks is worrisome. Maybe some punk got ahold of a key that Kokodan sold him? Also I don't think the keys are unique... we tested them.

Johnathan- I'm very distressed to hear about your seats. Like everyone else, I can't understand how it happened. I have read threads about the Seat Locks preventing seat theft, but this is the first time I have heard of them being removed. I shouldn't speculate, but I think the high profile nature of your car may have played a part. I know that you recently posted about selling your Seat Locks to MacGyver, and I guess anyone can read that you have them (they would still need that particular key, though).

There is a common misconception that wheel locks are individually keyed. This is completely untrue. McGard is the largest manufacturer of wheel locks in the world, and I have discussed this issue with the sales reps. There are a limited number of different keys available for each type of car. I believe he said up to 15 patterns (I don't remember exactly) which is dependent on the number of cars produced. A limited production car like the S2000 will have fewer patterns than a more popular model. It's also dependent on the size. If there are many other cars using the same size, there may be more key patterns available.

Jersey Girl is right, I do change the Seat Lock pattern with each group buy, and I can't order in a smaller quantity. McGard already is making an exception on their minimum order for me.

It's entirely possible that someone used a key to remove the locks. The group buy that Johnathan participated in was at the end of 2002, and there were several (more than 10) owners from Florida who bought Seat Locks. I can't control what people do with the Seat Locks and Keys after they buy them. I only sell to S2000 owners, but I can't say whether they are good people, or not. A bad guy in FL could have bought a set of Seat Locks and Key from someone outside of Florida, as well. I've seen used Seat Locks for sale several times on S2KI, and I have no idea who has bought them.

S2000 seat theft is really increasing lately all over the country. There are new stolen seat threads almost weekly now. I believe that the Seat Locks are a great theft deterrent, but nothing is foolproof. Still, I have no idea how the locks could have been removed (without a key).

I will eat the cost to sacrifice a set of locks to see if I can remove them from the car without the key. I don't wan't to damage my seat rails, or the threads, but I can test some different ideas that people have suggested to me.

Johnathan- if you can post any details or evidence regarding the theft, it might help to figure things out.
