Lowering Car
I wouldn't get a full coil over kit as they cost a lot of money, and you only have 40 thousand on your old suspension, so i would probably take the cheaper solution, buy a pair of lowering springs, you can always get some coil overs later is your not happy!
Personally i like the Eibach Pro Kit....

I guess it depends on what your budget is. If you think you might want the benifits of coilovers in the future I would say save for the coilovers and save yourself the cost of installing it twice.

To the OP,
In my personal opinion if your going to swap suspension on an S you might as well save up and get the coil over system. Sure its easier to throw springs on and call it a day but in the reality of it all, one of the key features this car has is the handling and how well it performs right out of the dealer. Dont compromise the handling of this car over a few bucks, you bought a $32k car and not a Honda Civic.
I have pretty much installed coil overs on a handful of s2ki members cars here and i have told them all the same thing, do it right the first time or dont do it at all. Keep in mind that your struts come from factory to support certain ride heights that the car undergoes with factory springs which have certain ratios on them. If you just swap out the springs and throw on aftermarket ones with other spec ratios, in the end you pretty much put more stress on your struts causing them to blow and leak. So my suggestion to you is to do some research on various companies that offer coil overs and make the right choice.
Threads like these is why i started individual threads such as the one below

I really appreciate all the good information, a lot better then telling me to have a fat person sitting in a car, i guess everyone needs a laugh ....
I agree with the comment about doing it right and paying the extra money. I like the handling of the car and don't want to mess that up. Since I am starting pharmacy school in the fall and will end up keeping the car in a garage for a long time, ..... i will hold off on this idea ....
when you take $28,000 per year loan for 4 years you sort of have different priorities ...

Exactly, the springs arent supposed to be the cheap alternative to getting coil overs. Coil overs you will get alot of increased handling, AND you can lower the car, but in the sense of just lowering it, cuz its already a get handling car, im fine with going with the cheaper solution since i dont have money for the coil overs and have alot of other stuff i would rather buy at the moment for the car than the suspension, which dont get me wrong is a great upgrade! But i think ill be fine right now with the suspension while im running practically stock.
And S2k-aficando basically just said it all.

Honestly most people do not track their cars and most people just want to slam the car. Therefore springs are perfectly fine. You don't need a 1500 dollar coilovers when you just want a drop.
Only reason I want coilovers is because I want to go lower.

for the car because it really increases your handling but another plus is thAt most on them are adjustable so u can slam your car for a show and than when ur just using it as ur daily driver (but were in Florida dnt gotta worry to much about crappy roads) just bring it back to a 1 or 2 inch drop. But for Just a plain lowerig solution go with springs, you will get increased performance just from the drop ur getting, but not a full sport suspension
I have never had my car lowered but does the springs really make a huge difference when you still keep the stock rims and tires ..... i just read that they lower it by a couple inches .... any feedback would be great ...
some say 1 inch others say 2 inches ....
