Kimber Pro Carry or Full size .45 cal

The Sig and Springfield are also excellent choices. If there are no children in the house, consider a Glock.
Shotguns are also a wonderful choice for home protection...simply the sound from engagement is enough to scare and subdue an intruder..

I would say a 50 cal Desert Eagle, but I would also have to say teh Kimber 45. That has to be one of my favorite guns to shoot
As for the security my father owns a security company. We can help you put together a system that will fit you price range.
I personally would recommend spending the money on good camera with high resolution, which is the key to a good camera. Look for a camera over 480 lines of resolution.
DVR's are very expensive. DVR = Digital Video Recorder. As of right now I have 2 Honeywell Rapid Eyes sitting on the stock shelf that were recently leased out to a customer of ours. They list for close to 7,000 we will let these go for 2,000.
As for something that people might also be interested in is a portable all in one 2 camera DVR setup with a 2 GB memory. We recently had a customer with a Porsche that got his headlights stolen. Everyone knows about that because we have a similar problem to that with our seats. This setup comes in an 8x8x4 box that houses the DVR, power supply, and backup battery's. You can hook up 2 day/night cameras to the DVR. The DVR uses a 2 GB SD card it is a small amount of memory, but you know when something happens to check what happened. Memory is what also makes a recorders cost go up in price. So the memory will last a couple days.

A fist packs a punch; a gun packs bullets.
In Florida, you better think twice about pulling a gun on someone to scare them off. If they call the cops, you will go to jail.
Read Florida Statute 790 about Weapons and Firearms, specifically 790.10.
You can't drive your S from behind bars.

TRAINING
Erick
My brother is the Firearms Instructor for Metro-Dade Police Dept. If you'd like, I can introduce you and he can help you with any questions you may have or any training you need. He can also point you in the right direction as to what type of gun would be good for you. He has many himself if you'd like to go shooting one day and try different guns (with him, of course).
