One more item to check off...

The officer went to get weapon and had to ignore the other... <ahem>... "personal" items in the nightstand.

Why don't you kids use the drawers for that stuff?!
So why exactly were the weapons drawn and YOU were cuffed / detained?
If you didn't display your weapon and was acting rationally, there is no reason for their (police) actions.
Which department responded? Why did they even enter your house and search your nightstand?
And since you mentioned it, you do have to share...what exactly were those "personal" items...lol

Since my call was to the non-emergency line (who calls 911 for a solicitor?), it wasn't called in to an officer for at least several minutes. Since his call was to 911 (and the woman who called evidently was hysterical), he had priority. Since he was leaving the property, he met up with the officers before they came onto the property... therefore they now had a frantic 911 call and some guy saying he was threatened by a loonie with a gun. As far as they knew, I still had a weapon on me as I was standing outside.
It wasn't until later that the officer's realized nothing illegal happened (and the guy was making the story bigger than it truly was... he was trying to claim initially that I made a move for my gun and threatened him... yeah, right). Until the point where it was all worked out, they had to treat it as a potential wacko with a gun scenario. That being the case, their first priority was to get me in custody, then secure the weapon. Since the gun was back up in the apartment, they had to go in to retrieve it.
Once my side of the story was heard (and verified by Merri), they were suddenly focusing on the details of the solicitor's story. I didn't get a whole lot of feedback about his side, but I got the impression his story had some holes in it, hence their change in attitude towards him. Suddenly, I went from the major suspect to a potential victim ensuring the sanctity of his home.
I suppose the worst part of being in cuffs was the mosquitoes eating my arms alive... you really can't move around too much in those things. I was only in them for about 5 minutes until the stories were all told, but I got some intersting looks for the neighbors
One woman came out to walk her dog, I said "Hi, how are things going?", she said "Not bad... I hope your day gets better, though!"
Nick! Where the hell have you been? Haven't seen you post here in a while (or am I just not paying attention?). Stopped hearing anything from you on the video camera setup, so I figured the project was shelved for a while. Sucks about the engine... how'd you manage to do that?
