Road debris takes out front bumper!
Some UFD (unidentified flying debris) came sailing through the air on I95 and slammed into the bumper of my 04 Rio Spa yesterday! The impact sounded like I'd slammed into a Hummer, or worse Kirstie Alley. If there is some consolation, it glanced off the left corner and didn't evaporate my headlight or hop onto the hood. Bottom line is that it seems that the bumper has to be replaced as well as the wheel well lining which curiously actually melted along the outer perimeter! (Maybe the impact pushed the lining against the tire spinning at 70 mph.) Anyway, a Sunrise repair shop quoted $850 to repair the corner of the bumper, replace the wheel well liner and small fender tweak. For that amount should I just get an OEM bumper and have it painted? A body shop would really only have to fix the fender dink. Any thoughts or advise? Also how much of a factor is color matching with having the bumper painted and the left fender I assume?
Either that or check out the stickied link at the top of the S Fla forum...I think it is Jeff at Pompano honda that will hook you up with discounts on the OE parts. Got great quotes from him in the past.
