Running from the PO-Lease?? Read this!
WOW guys...I've been doing some research in order to prepare for my UNJUST "Blocking an intersection to allow drag racing" ticket in Miami Dade, and I found some crazy stuff!
First of all, a police officer cannot engage in a pursuit unless you are suspect to or give reason to believe you are a suspect to a violent felony against another human being. (Now, it's easy to claim to that he thought you were suspect to a violent crime, so lets forget that one).
Also, a pursuit is to end when the risk of life or property exceeds the offense committed.
An SUV type vehicle is NOT allowed to engage in a pursuit of ANY kind!
Unmarked cars may not be the first car to engage in a pursuit!
You cannot engage in a pursuit without a proper marked car, and you must keep your lights/sirens on at all times!
The pursuit is to end anytime the pursuing car mechanically malfunctions (lights stop working, siren stops working, windows cracks, tire deflates, blah blah blah)
A pursuit is to end when the pursuing vehicle loses visual contact with the suspects car!!! (how cool is THAT one???
)
A pursuit ends whenever the suspected vehicle enters an active school zone.
I found a whole bunch more but just thought I'd post those!
only time i'd ever consider running from a cop is if it was a crown vic and we were on 75 and I knew I could run fast enough to lose visual contact
All police cars are governed at 140 according to the Z28 patrol man i spoke with the other day.

Even if they lose visual contact, they can still search for you. And if they find your car later (no matter HOW MUCH later), they can still pin it on you. All it takes is one cop saying you were the one driving and you're done.
I know first-hand
I know first-hand
you can't out run radio but it says VISUAL contact...if they can't see you, they can't chase you. And as long as they don't grab your tag #'s from the previous chase, they can't pin it on you anyway.
