Thank you Tommy, this particular thread was about free speech anyways so whoever wanted it closed, needs to not work through someone else to close, but explain their meaning behind closing it.

It's more than the insensitive comments of a Race Truck Driver, it was an angle in addrerssing how we make insensitive comments without thinking first.

I agree with Brian, there is some lee-way among those in the group who know eachother BUT sometimes we say things to others in private that could really hurt in public.

Dan is still an asshole too

Brian, in Tommy defense, he's an Asian American, so in all honesty, he can say Dumb Ass Redneck. Jimmy Spencers comments may not have been as blatant as Tommys, there were meant in the same vain.

MY opinion is this, if you can compete, put a car in. To stay on just the truck topic, if Toyata can compete, go for it just as Chrysler did when they re-entered the circuit.

Did you not say "Sorry I'm not being my usual silly self, but that dumbass redneck pissed me off!"?? You may not have had racist intentions, but that statement is in fact racist, despite the fact that "redneck" isn't really a race.

It's like some schmuck over on street encounters said "i like trucks but i hate the hillbillies that drive them" or something like that. He got a PM from me kindly asking him to edit that out, especially after the Jimmy Spencer controversy.

Hunter: i don't believe you meant for your comment to be racist, but it was...maybe thats how Mr Spencer felt as well...

First of all, NASCAR isn't racing. Its fun to watch when they crash, but watching them run around in circles all day long, no thanks. NASCAR drivers have no more skill than the average Joe Blow. Any of us here can be NASCAR drivers if we really wanted to. Well except Warren and I, they'll probably make a comment "Those sons of bitches bombed Pearl Harbor, don't forget." Look at most of the NASCAR drivers compared to Formula One drivers. Most of them are overweight and out of shape. Have you ever seen an overweight, out of shape Formula One driver? No, because they are true althetes who train. Have you ever seen any NASCAR driver succeed in any motorsport outside of NASCAR? I haven't. Put the best NASCAR drivers in Formula One, like Dale Jr and Jeff Gordan and I guarantee that they will come in dead last in the point standings. What they do requires no skill or talent. Its pedal to the metal and make an occassional left turn. Any monkey with half a brain can do it.

Second, this is Spencer's comment...

"I was raised with Chevrolet, Ford and Chrysler, so I don't know," said Spencer, who drove a Dodge truck to one series victory last year. "Those sons of bitches bombed Pearl Harbor, don't forget."

Obviously he disagrees with Toyota being allowed to race in NASCAR, which his every right to do so. But what does this - "Those sons of bitches bombed Pearl Harbor, don't forget." - have to do with anything, other than the Japanese connection? Those "sons of bitches" were from an empire long gone. Since WWII ended, Japan has become one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world and has become one of our country's closest ally. There's no other reason to bring it up, other than racism and ignorance. If you don't see how this is racist and ignorant, then I'm not sure what say then.

Third, I'm very disappointed in the way NASCAR is handling this. The "Oh well that's Jimmy for you..." doesn't fly with me. They should fine him, suspend him, something more than brush it off as if nothing. More proof to me that NASCAR is run by hillbilly rednecks for hillbilly rednecks. And by hillbilly rednecks, I don't mean Southerners, I mean stupid ignorant hillbillies who run around hating everything and everyone who isn't white. Stupid ass ignorant redneck mofos like that idiot in Alabama, when I was in college, who refused to serve me at his gas station because of my ethnicity. He never directly insulted me, all he said was "You money ain't good here, Leave." Its an example of racism takes on many forms and shapes, from Spencer's comment to refusal of service.

Fourth, yes I brought this topic up in here because its something important to me. All of you who know me who I take jokes well, me being short (hey what can I do I stopped growing at 12 ) or my bent intake, etc. But once someone said something because of my ethnicity, which I asked them to stop because I find it offensive. But either they didn't hear or didn't care but the jokes continue. I have brought up similar topics in the past as well, but no one really listens... in fact it just gets worse, to the point thats its becoming a turn off. We are all adults, not kids, I don't need to tell people more than once to please stop. For me its a matter of mutual respect.
