Wow, that really sucked. This is a learning experience. If Im going to buy something here and its sort of local I will get it tested then pay for it because some people have no nerve. What makes me think too is how come the leak was not mentioned? That is a foul play. JUST MY OPINION!!!!!

After witnessing the install and parts first hand. I can honestly say there were issues with the parts. It is a shame that we will probably never get to the bottom of all this.
I feel bad because I was one of the guys saying how good of deal this seemed to be and pushing for Nick to pull the trigger.

The last time I saw SpoonS' car, his turbo setup was working perfectly fine. Things like this happen unfortunately when dealing with complex aftermarket parts, especially USED stuff.
A couple of years ago, I sold my stereo system to some guy. When I removed it, the sub and amps were all working fine. The guy that I sold it to took it to some second rate installer that blew my subwoofer during the install and turned around and blamed it on me.
Ever thought that whoever you had install the turbo screwed up? Ever thought that you're jumping to conclusions? Ever thought that you should buy new parts if you had any doubts?
I'm not being a dick or asshole but simply offering an alternative perspective on your situation. Everything you have stated amounts to nothing more than circumstantial evidence, not concrete facts. Before you bad mouth a good guy, you should get your facts straight.

I dont know anyone involved but here are my 2 cents
I had the same problem when i purchased a used turbo kit for my ep3. The Turbo which had no play whatsoever when i purchased it would not spool up after the install. I was pissed but after reviewing all the data with my friends it ended up being that the wastegate actuator was not adjusted properly and would stay open not letting the turbo boost properly. What im noticing here is 1st: u are not installing the kit urself and it being a used kit will have some issues always that you will have to figure out.2- you dont have to spend $900 on a new turbo because turbos can be rebuilt for alot less. 3- If your not mechanicaly inclined and are installing your kit urself you have to understand that a shop will always prefer to replace parts rather than spend time trying to figure out what is wrong or can be fixed in a particular part. its more profitable for them. look when it comes to used auto parts you get what you pay for.
