Default Spring Break 05, Whats there to do?

Hey guys,

me and 4 of my friends are makin plans for Spring Break already, and we were asking some opinions as to what are the hot spots, 4 guys all single or close enough to it. We're gonna drive down from chicago.

There are three hotels currently which we are looking at.

The list goes from the most expensive to the least expensive.

Casa Grande

Crescent

and Castilla del Mar

We wanna be as close to South Beach as possible, we're gonna stay for a week, and wanna keep total expenses below $1,200 per person. Is it worth the pay extra for Casa Grande? Whats are the coolest places to hit up? How far from South Beach area?

I know this is a little soon, but we wanna book early, and it doesnt hurt to dream bout south beach in march, in the middle of Oct.

Holla at yo boy.

I am not sure where those three Hotels are. Are those your only choices? PM me the addresses and I will tell you there proximity to the hot spots. If you are lucky, the week of your spring break will fall during the Winter Music Conference (craziest week of the year on South Beach). It is always in March, but they have not posted the exact dates for 2005 yet (this year is the 20th anniversary, should be even more out of control). As for some of the normal hot spots, heres a few. Just a heads up, as a group of guys some of these place will be hard to get into. If there is one you really want to go to you might want to comtemplate getting a VIP table, then you will get in for sure. If it does end up being the Week of the Winter Music Conference a lot of these places will be selling pre-sale tickets, so you'll want to keep your eyes open for that.

I would stay at the Delano if you can.

As far as clubs, I'll defer to bongiovi. Haven't been clubbing in SoBe in years.

I checked out the location of the hotels, and they all seem to be right on South Beach, so I wouldn't worry about location, you should be able to just about walk to everything from them. Except ofcoarse some of the clubs in downtown miami (which is like a $10 cab ride). The Casa Grande is a four star hotel and looks really nice, but it also looked like it was about $300+ a night. For the amount of time you will be in your room, it doesn't seem worth it to me, especially seeing that you guys are on a $1200/per budget. Miami beach clubs and bars can get pretty expensive. You guys will be halfway through your money on the hotel alone. Just my 2 cents.

man i just stayed there about a month ago, at the riande continental in south beach. man it was a pretty crappy place, but it suited our needs it was nice and cheap. i still had the best weekend of my life, best time. i spent about 1200 bucks in 3 days just on food and alcohol. drinks are cheaper there than LA, but the strippers man, i have never seen anyone work harder for a dollar than in florida. but overall, the people and the ladies are second to none. i love florida, miami area for sure. we were barely in the rooms anyways, we were always out, think about it. if you are really lucky, you won't go back to your hotel. hopefully next time i go back the town won't be evacuated and there will be more people around, but it was awesome even with the hurricane watches.

peace.

Hey thanks for the info guys. That $1200 budget isnt set in stone, its close to what we'd like to spend. One of the reasons we're getting a suite is so we can have a kitchen and spend less on eating out and more on drinking out. The casa grande appealed to us since it was so nice, you know in case you bring someone back with you, your not stayin in a shit hole

But yea we'll only be using it to sleep and eat, other then that we dont plan on bieng in the rooms much. Castilla Del Mar would be the cheapest but it isnt in south beach its in Miami Beach, which i heard is like a 20 min walk. The last thing i wanna do is get lost going to my room and end up in some haitian nieghborhood. But again, it would be the cheapest.

The crescent seems to be a nice mix of the two, but it doesnt have a pool..... but it seems to be one we're leaning towards.

As far as the attractions, thats a great list i copyed and pasted it onto a word document, and saved it under "things to do" if anyone has more please add them. We're gonna be there 7 days and wanna see and "do" as much as possible. Keep me posted on the days for that festival, that would be amazing if the timing worked out.

I thought about the whole flyin to florida and takin a cruise, but 4 guys, south beach + women + booze = more fun then a cruise (at least to us)

So in the end.

Cruise < South Beach

well shifty, you may be right, but i guess since i live here and that happens every weekend, its not as fun as it is if you dont live here and you come down for only a week.. Spring break is about having fun and sometimes in a different place.
