I have been bidding on a few stock airboxes on E-bay and it seems that people are getting a little carried away with prices- has anyone purchased a used stock airbox- and what are the going rates?- I'd like to pick up a second airbox- as Ive been tempted by the idea of cutting it up and fabing a fiberglass snorkel from the grille- does anybody have any experience with any of this stuff?

 

Mine is gutted. I'll show you the next time I see you. When I get my Comptech intake I'll have it up for sale if you want it.

 

cool- I thought you had an intake all this time- you just dremeled out the bafle? - I'm thinking of taking out the bafle, and adding a second intake hole maybe routed from a fibreglass molded snorkel or something, and also keeping the original "horn" thing in place with some heat shield around behind the radiator. - are you taking your S up to sebring-? maybe Ill see you there.

 

Check out the For Sale thread. I think I saw some stock airboxes there. I am thinking of doing the same thing. Someone told me it will give "at least" 5hp. Fyrestrike comment?

5HP? More like 1 to 2 HP if you're lucky.

 

I just followed Spoon's instuctions for the airbox, it is completely gutted. I don't have a snorkel going to it though. I won't be taking the S to Sebring but I'll see you next tuesday at BB.
