Thought of the day
Ok...
Back to the Future part 2.
It clear that when Marty made a change in the past.. that it changed the future that he knew.
So then, Why.. when Biff stole the Delorian to make a backward time jump was he able to return to the 'good marty future'?
This is especially troublesome b/c when Young marty made the backward time jump to his present... it no longer existed... One would think that if his 'good past' didn't exist.. then his 'good future' also couldn't exist....
I guess what i want to know... is how long it takes for the future to be affected by the past? Is there temporal shielding in the Delorean? How long does this shielding protect you?

Depending upon which theory (or set of theories) you prescribe to, one of them says there are an infinite number of possible dimensions, each with minute changes from another, which also means some are going to be radically different from others.
In the case of BTTF2, Biff MAY have "returned" to a dimension (or time frame, if you will) that was so minutely different from the one he left as to make no difference to the casual observer, being detectable only on the quantum level (and possibly only in the vector of a single base particle somewhere in the distant universe).
It would certainly make shooting the movie easier.
Of course, Biff could have also transported himself back to a dimension where particles have no mass... but I don't think the cameras would have been fast enough to capture his quality acting skills before he went <poof>
BTW, I like quantum mechanics

however.. we've got to remain within the confines of the rules created for the movie...
in this particular movie... changing the past...affects the direct future...
I wasn't aware that any cameras were able to capture his fine acting skills...

Think of time not as forward and backward but as an ever unfolding box that unfolds in all directions while at the same time folding within itself.
