Thumbs down Want to move to Florida from CA..help help

Hey guys and gals. My name is Alex and I am a fellow S2k owner from California.

The reason for this post is because I may have an opportunity to move to FLorida since my family owns property in Brickell, Hallandale and Biscayne.

My question to you guys is if any area around those apartments has large financial planning firms or Private Equity firms? I would like to be relatively close to work, and my family is considering selling some of the apartments but want me to choose one to live in.

Any large firms near any of those locations for private equity or financial planning?

This is a big decision to make, since I am still taking my CFP and MBA courses here in California and have always lived in California. I am 22 and plan on getting married within the next 3 or so years so I am trying to start my career somewhere that I plan on staying at for a while.

Are any of you financial Planners or in the Private Equity world? If so, could you guide me a bit as to which location would be best to live at and which firms to start enquiring at?

I would greatly appreciate it.

-Alex

Alex, your best bet is probably Brickell or Biscayne, which are both in or near Downtown Miami. I don't know anything about Financial Planning or Private Equity firms, but I'm sure that there are some in the Downtown Miami area.

Thanks for your reply Mav, it's a tough decision to make, but I feel as though I want a change in my life and moving could be it. I dont mean to sound snobbish by my comments about the 3 apartments, I just dont know which one is suited for what i need.

How far is Hallandale from Brickell and Biscayne? If I HAd to drive to work every morning? Would traffic be bad?

I think Brickelle or Biscayne would definetly be the BEST choices.. traffic wise and atmosphere wise.

Brickelle is definetly growing in to a very beautiful area and it's a big financial district. Biscayne well that's most of the time a great area.

Hallandale's about the Miami-Dade/Broward line and it's about 12 miles (rough estimate) or so straight shot down I-95. BUT that doesn't mean it's an easy task.. that's about 30 - 40 mins stop and go traffic every morning and afternoon. Something YOU WOULD HATE to do every day!

Is it true that Biscayne is turning into the next Manhattan?

Definitely. There is a lot of growth right now in the Downtown Miami area. They are cleaning it up, redeveloping and modernizing it. Plus South Beach is 5 minutes away.

Where is there the most potential to gain most equity in property? I am curious since I am planning on purchasing the property that I choose form my family.

The Brickell property is in the Skyline development and the Biscayne is still under construction but is right next to the water.

Anything on the water is gold here - deepwater dockage is also a big plus.
