Best phone provider in GTA
So im closing on my home next month. Im looking at phone providers for the home.
I hate Rogers with a passion and prefer not to give them any future business. Dont ask why....all I can say is Cust service pissed me off
So what would you do? Im moving to Barrie yet most of my calls will be to-from the
Newmarket-Toronto area. So it would make sence to get an Aurora 905 number.
To do this i would have to go Voip. Anyone have experience with Vonage or Bell Digital Phone? I also seen new commercials for Comcast..... good/bad?

I use Vonage. $24.95/month (US) and took my gateway with me from San Diego. I still have my 760 Escondido number and if you call it from San Diego it's a local call. I also have a number in 905 (Oshawa) and one in 647 (Toronto). The extra numbers cost $4.95 (US)/month each. I get my voice mails emailed to me as mp3 attachments. Anywhere there is a broadband connection I just plug in and presto I've got phone. I've used it to send and receive faxes without problems and the voice part works like you would expect it to. Only thing is you don't need to dial 1 for long distance - since there is no such thing They also have a $14.95/month package which includes 500 minutes which should be enough if you don't use the phone much (I use my cell phone mainly).

Yup, never have to change numbers or phone companies again (in theory). Just take your box where ever you go and it follows you. I don't even have to pay sales tax on the service. I bill it automatically to my credit card and earn the magic points on the purchase.
You could keep your existing phone number, not just get a new one. Order it now and have your number switched. Then when you move just take the box with you up here like I did.

I use my office VOIP all the time! Awesome when I'm up at the cottage, down in the US or elsewhere away from my desk at work.
Can't beat VOIP in my opinion, and it's only getting better everyday and the little bugs and annoying issues like echos are worked out.
