For Cdn. owners due to KM's..
So what is the exact Kilometres for the break in period ? I read and see from our u.s. contigents that 600miles is the figure. So would this be safe to assume 600 Miles = 965.6064 Kilometers
at how many k's can you launch into vtecsasy...
thanks

I dont have an S2000 but I personally would wait a good 5000km for break in. I met some type R guys who blew there motor from not waiting enough. When you rebuild a motor the rule is to wait 5000km before you drive the car hard, I think the same should apply to a new car. I guess for me it would be a safety precaussion. Just my 2 cents

Quality rebuilds are about 3000 before you start redlining. I have a couple guys that just got theirs done, one a monster rebuilt B18 and another an OE rebuild on a B18C5 Type R.
The S2000, and many Honda's arn't really finished being "broken in" until about 10,000. The S and TypeR will keep getting quicker until about that time.
However I think the big question here is, when can I start redlining?... well I started a 1,000kms.
Remember, you have a warranty. So follow the manuals guidelines. If the engine lasts 4 years (or whatever the period is) strong, then I bet I'll last a while longer. though I would probably have the whole car looked over before your warranty runs out to get anything last minute done to it. Myself.. I dunno that I'll have the S for another 2 years, but I race it so...
Cold starts are probably the worst thing you could do to an engine.
BTW, check your oil often in the first 7000 or so kms. It's kinda funny, once I started racing the car, it stopped going through oil. I need an oil change but since my last one I've done probably 20 events with it and the oil maybe moved down 2mm on the dipstick. Now my MR2.. I need to check it every week But you know.. Turbo.
I think rebuilds are generally tighter than factory too. Though I dunno why that would be. So I could just be blowing hot air.
