You know, the more I thought about it today during my flight, the more it makes sense why they did it.

It's easier to package, but I think that's just a side benefit. The vibration and the stress and strain that flange sees if it was one piece would be far greater than if it was 2-pieces. By separating the flange, it almost serves as a stress relief from the vibration and the stress at the centerline from the flex when going over bumps.

But I still stand by the fact that they should've cleaned the metal debris and deburred the thing before shipping
I have no idea what you just said but sure :S

I just confirmed with SanMarinoCpe that the exhaust comes in 3 pieces when it is shipped. He is a sponsor on the board and sold Comptech exhausts.

...and on that note, if this exhaust is going to be put up for sale again, you might want to become a member first..

Thanks for the PM btw.......

I have a three piece Comptech and I can also vouch that it comes cut, splitting the two rear exhaust pipes. It made it easier to install because of the weight, I did it in my garage on my back with a jack. I haven't had any problems with leaking at all at that rear point, though there's definitely a tiny hole in the weld behind the cat flange which is creating a little leak. I'll get the weld touched up soon.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with this one being sold, though perhaps the cut is less than stellar. Oh well, take a grinding wheel to it or a sanding block perhaps and clean up the burrs.

I totally had a different understanding of this situation before Dominic came on and explained and took photos. I had thought that an entire flange had actually been cut off. Like Mike said, kudos to Dominic for responding in such a civilized manner.

I'd like to give my thanks to Mocky, MickeyCB, SanMarinoCpe, and everyone else who helped resolve this issue.

Now that I am sure that our intake is not defective in any manner I can safetly put this up again for sale. I will respect the forum's rules and not post the actual sale information here until I get my full membership status. Thank you for the support everyone.

Just a friendly FYI....

You might want to get your money back if that three piece design is for an intake
