people on this forum have passed with test pipes LOL... i didnt take the chance i threw my stock cat and and passed with flying colours obv

There is no way you are going to pass with a test pipe. I'd question your friends until you see if first hand.

dan says he passed with a test pipe and you yourself say you just BARELY didn't pass with a test pipe... hmm should i question you lol :S?

edit: changed it too apparently better?

Ya I don't know. I tried with test pipe and the guy at drive clean said... ahhh... almost passed. I'm not exactly sure on the number that came from my car but I do know that jacking car up and removing 5 bolts isn't that difficult so I always swap back now.

I am going to get mine done in the next few weeks so I don't have to when it comes out after winter... I am doing alot to the engine bay. I removed my airpump (it didn't work and I was doing a wire tuck) and have reg code P410 (I think) on my dash. The airpump wont make a difference will it??

Air pump adds air to aid combustion hence lowering tailpipe emissions, a difference yes .

I was reading it only helps with cold start ups and will warm your cat up to the proper temp faster and then shuts off. So pretty much you drive it around for 30 min and get it nice and hot and go to do the E-test you should come out with the same results. I would think. I know it wasn't working when I bought my car and they did the test and it passed fine.

I will get it done this week and post results.

Carbon monoxide is a by-product of combustion, the better the combustion process the lower the carbon monoxide emmessions. As you get incomplete combustion the CO number increases.

Nirtogen oxides are by-products that have been found to create ground ozone when they react with environmental conditions, so they want that to be low, but they are always present in auto emmissions.

Hydrocarbons are unburned fuel and oil, when you get 0 HC like Starchland's numbers you basically are getting 100% complete combustion/burn of the air/fuel mixture, you might not have any oil seepage or if you do it is being burned up 100%. I think this is an amazing number as 100% combustion is great to see in a combustion engine. All the air fuel you are throwing into the cylinders is burning up = one healthy engine

So I got my drive clean done! It past and that is with no Airpump and a few vaccum lines blocked off that were running to some emissions control things...

Results in BOLD. First column is running test , 2nd curb idle (Limit is in bracket)

HC ppm (66) 20 (150) 44
CO% (0.37) 0.02 (0.70) 0.61
NO ppm (757) 1 (N/A) N/A
RPM 2487 901
Dilution 15.0 14.8

2003 with 140000 khms.

Funny thing about the whole thing....
The guy put the front wheels on the rollers and got out... I was like ummmm you know it's rear wheel drive right??? He tells me no it's front wheel drive... I said NO its not put the rear wheels on the rollers!! Fail.
Ohh and my frame and HKS was resting on the ground...
