One thing you could do is jack up each corner (likely the front left first) and with the wheel in the air, push/pull at 12 and 6 o'clock and then 3 and 9 and check for play (i.e. the assembly moving in and out) even a little and you'll have either a worn tie rod end (3&9) or ball joint (12&6). I'm not positive off hand if you can feel a weak wheelbearing this way.
Somethng you should do before getting on the track just about everytime anyhow.

edit - taylor beat me to it. the 6/12 and 3/9 o'clock wiggle will tell you if this is the problem. I have had a similar thing and it was actually the lugnuts. all were loose (from a vandal) and I couldn't figure out WTF was going on. I thought it was a tire at first but figured it out because anything bad happened. It certainly wasn't far away though.

omg...I guess I am really stupid. I just checked my lug nuts, and they're a bit loosen. I think that's the cause of the noise. I think its caused by the fact that I replace all the oe lug nuts with muteki nuts without jacking up my car.
I wonder if there's a list of thing I should check before I go for a lapping day.
