Hardtop Hunting
I have been searching for a used OEM hardtop for over a year now with no luck. i recently had a deal worked out to buy a oem top off a rio yellow s2000 when the guy was selling the car. The top was only going to cost 1700! but of course last minute the buyer of the car decided to buy the top as well putting me back on the market. I am wondering if anyone has some insights to where i could pick one up for a decent price? I can order one brand new through Honda for 2850 + tax but of naturally I'm a deal hunter.

uhhhhhhhhhhhh I didn't think you could get the through Honda anymore? Aren't they discontinued? I also thought they were much more than that from Honda.
If you could get one from Honda brand new for that price you should jump on it right away. They are more than that used right now.

You can't order them from Honda anymore. Well not complete and painted at least. You can piece them together from the CR parts list but it works out to being like $5k or more and its not painted. If you somehow can get one directly from Honda for that price you need to do it now because used they run $3000+.

Yeah Honda doesn't have any hardtops anymore. if they did then the price of the used hardtop market would drop. You'd be lucky to find a mint hardtop (oem paint) for less than $4000

As already stated, Honda no longer sells the hardtop, and you are at the mercy of the open market which currently commands between $3,500 and $4,500 depending on condition and your geographic location...

If you could have bought that top for $1700 you would have gotten a major deal! If you are looking in that price range, you may be waiting a lot longer.

It does not make sense that Honda would have discontinued parts because by law vehicle companies has to carry the parts for 10 years before they can mark them as discontinued. Making sense that AP1 front lips are discontinued but the hardtops should be still available until 2018-19. I will run the part number through the service department at the Honda factory in Allistion and will let everyone know.

I remember my hardtop hunting for 5+ years and then when I got it, it just became an expensive garage ceiling fixture. The good thing is that it is easy to sell if you ever change your mind. That said, I think the OEM one makes the car too miata-ish but the mugen style ones look good imo.
