HD-DVD or Blu-RaY
These players are set to hit the shelves in a few weeks..
I need to hear from you audio files, which one to get ?
HD-DVD or BLU-RAY or both ?
will either play existing rented movies from Blockbuster or am I stuck with possibly 3 dvd players ?

They should play the existing format.
As to which to choose. That's really hard to say at this point.
HD-DVD is developed by Toshiba and NEC where Blu-ray is developed by Sony.
Remember what happend to the beta format?

(I've heard ) Bluray will be dead within a year of release, and HDDVD won't be far behind, two halfassed technologies racing to come out first, and both suck

Wait until the format battle is over...hopefully there will be a clear winner. Like VHS and Beta, although Beta was a better format it lost out on the format wars.
