Id be afraid it'd rust out before the end of Dec.

And the real hardcore owners will swap back to stock for the winter. Hint, hint.

R-compounds are a crutch just like a supercharger, bigger brakes, lower gears, etc.
BUT if you do know how to drive, then by all means, R-compounds are an awesome mod.
Personally, I know my car still had more to go, it was the driver who wasn't fast enough at Shannonville.

I think most of us know that we aren't driving to the car, that's why we're at Shannonville. Looking back at it, personally I could of carried more entry speed, got on the throttle earlier on coner exit and probably could of dropped down an extra gear in most corners and been braver on the two high speed sweepers. Did learn to modulate the throttle and improve my line that day. An autocross last Sunday I was amazed how much more grip those R-compounds gave me. Spent all day pushing it a little more to find the limit, but ran out of runs before traction!

The driver is the weak link not the tires. I know I can go faster still with the stock tires, and I wasn't passed by one car in my run group last week.
My instructor said I was at about 80% of the car's ability.
BUT the modder in me can't stop. Currently I'm looking into new seats, 4.57 gears and maybe the 6 pot wilwoods.
But the R-compounds I will leave out until maybe the last half of next year.
