More Shipping Woes - A tale of two brain cells
Just to add to my continuing saga regarding items being shipped to me...
I ordered a new STB Monday from the States. The guy gives me a UPS tracking number on Thuesday. On Wednesday he PM's me again to say that UPS needs me to call them regarding the package. I call UPS, tell them to handle brokerage and ask when I should expect the package. UPS tells me it'll be here today (Thursday). I'm thinking "SWEET!!! Finally a package that's here early!". I checked the tracking # on-line around noon and it said they tried to deliver the package, but no one was home (I guess my roommate was sleeping). I decide to call and arrange to pick it up myself. While I'm on the phone, the guy mentions that there are fees I'll need to pay upon delivery (which I new about, just not the amount) so I ask him how much.
Get this - the paskage is valued at $200US (~$250CDN) and they want over $100!!! I'm like "WTF? Are f'n kidding me!?" Apparently, tax was 14.5%, duty was around $16 and the rest were UPS brokerage fees!! I told the guy there was no way in hell I was going to pay $100 for a bar that's only worth $250 and told him to ship it back to the sender.
So much for a smoothly shipped item.
WHAT'S WITH EVERYBODY SCREWING ME!!!
WHERE'S MY SHIFT KNOB!!!!
FEK!!!

yeah, UPS sucks for those brokerage fees. For lower priced items, USPS is the only way to go. (and always coach the seller when entering the value... if its used, don't let they put down any more than you paid)
