Default Mugen header?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me like the "mugen" header for sale in this ad is just an OEM header refinished black. If this is the case what moron would pay $600 for that? And if I'm wrong, well I guess I'm the moron

The picture quality makes it hard to see the exact details. But the heatshield bolt plates and piping shapes seem to be consistent with an ap1 Mugen header, it doesn't look like an oem header to me.

I can't see the quality of the welds on the pipe connections, which would be good to see. There should be two tags at the top of a Mugen header ( Mugen tag and JASMA tag) on the #2 and #3 primaries near the mounting flange, but that area is not visible in the picture.

There would be a big difference in the weight of the oem and Mugen header if you were able to hold it in your hands. The design of the rear piping shape also distinguishes the Mugen header from the oem header but you can't see that side of it in the picture.

$600 for a Mugen header isn't a bad deal, it would be good to have the Mugen heatshield in place. I would ask him if he has the Mugen heatshield to go with the header.

Lastly, there is a difference between the Ap1 Mugen Header and the Ap2 Mugen header in terms of pipe design, there is no ap1/ap2 Mugen header as listed in his sale add, they are two different designs. They may fit both motors but the pipes are optimized for ap1 and ap2 differently.

Damn, I guess I AM the moron. It does however make sense that mugen would fabricate something to look and fit as OEM as possible without sacrificing additional flow that the OEM header lacks in. Good to know, thanks bud!

Well I have seen people try to pass off other aftermarket headers as Mugens, if you are interested in it I would ask the seller to provide more pictures, particularly of the upper tags on the primaries and perhaps a shot of the backside just to be sure.
