Do not buy a camera without a focus assist light. I think most Nikon cameras don't have it.

Just bought a Canon S60 for my gf (she's more of a photog than I am), I used it a few times and I like the wide range of modes that this camera comes with; and you can have manual settings on quite a few things as well.
I think this camera can takes pic @ 5 MP; but if you are only printing standard size (4"x6"?) any 4 MP camera will do, the higher the MP only translates to the ability of printing a bigger picture clearly.
It retails for $700 + tax here, so it's not exactly a great deal - got hers in HK, the total came to $630 taxes in - now that's a steal.![biggrin.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
A must have for a digicam would be tripod when taking pictures on a not so sunny day. Definitely do invest in one.
