Oil Filter options
Does anyone know what aftermarket oil filters are available for the S2000?
Or
Does anyone know what the micron rating is for the OEM filter?
Iv only ever bought OEM filters for my S but the price just got jacked and is now much closer to the equivalent of a aftermarket synthetic oil filter. I would be fine paying this if i knew the micron ratings were just as good as the high end aftermarkets (~10 micron).
Thanks in advance for any input.
ps- Iv looked into Fram and they dont have the correct part # listed for the S2000.

Oem changed every oil change but the manual says every other? Fram had a few filters listed. Not sure of micron rating or bypass pressure which is more important IMO. Was looking at good deals on eBay hamp but I said f it stay oem for 2 oil changes a year. Try a strong magnet on the end of the filter if your worried about tiny Particles youd be surprised however wear metals are getting so low now with new tech

I'm using the Amsoil EA oil filter @ ~$16.
Normally, it's OEM, but since I started using Amsoill, it was recommended that I use their oil filter too.

I don't have specific answers to your question but I know that searching for the lowest micron filtering doesn't equate to the best peformance. Oil flow through the filter is more important than filtering the smallest particles IMO, filters that catch higher rates of dirt typically don't flow the most oil, there is an inverse relationship between filtering and oil flow. One reason I stick to Honda filters is that they will flow the proper level of oil through them for our engine. Mobil1 has often boasted the best filtering, however it is a more restrictive filter in terms of flow. I'll always use the Honda filter despite cost. Just my two cents.
There are some oil filter studies out there over the internet, not sure how accurate they are, there was one posted on bobistheoilguy.com which measured flow rates.
