The 818XT cost less than on $100 on amazon.com (.ca has it going for an $50 more!), while the 1000eX cost nearly twice that. Both units seem to be able to measure at up to 10hz. Is there a benefit of getting the 1000eX? Besides aesthetics, it's not obvious how they're different (according to the product website). Does anyone know?

Mine needs an app on an Android to do the logging/real time view/analysis/etc.
His is stand alone for logging and you need a pc to view/analyze your sessions. It can also be used with a phone iirc

Okay, thanks. Seems like you and a bunch of guys just use RaceChrono...just downloaded it...seems pretty intuitive. I think that's probably more than enough since tracking is just for fun for me (and it's free!).
