I have 2 SP8000 on and 2 Bridgestone RE-71s. The REs outperform the 8000 in just the most unbelievable way!!!
New tires are going to be TOYO TS-1, and this is based upon the fact they are the only tire option I have left in my custom size - 195/55-14.

Way back when I was an automotive repari dummy I painted the friction surfaces on the discs on my del Sol. I figured it would rub off quick enough, and it would let the paint get real close to the inside. Well, it turned out that I didn't know how to check the slider pins (which were seized). I thought the burning smell would subside eventually since I thought it was part of the bedding process.
It sucked. It was dirty, messy and smelly. I didn't touch brakes again for another 5 years or so.
